Magnolia by flower colour

Magnolias are grown for their large, often delicately scented flowers, of red, violet, pink, white, yellow, and even black shades depending on the varieties. They are pink and open cup-shaped when upright such as Magnolia x soulangeana or sprengeri ; white and trailing for Magnolia sieboldii or spindle-shaped and purple in Magnolia liliflora Nigra. Magnolias like damp, light, humus-rich soils, they appreciate sun or partial shade, and most of them prefer a sheltered position from cold and dry winds.
