The GherkinCucumis sativus – of the Cucurbitaceae family is an herbaceous plant cultivated in vegetable gardens for its fruit, which will be consumed immature as a condiment. It belongs to the same species as the Cucumber, but varieties such as the Fin de Meaux or the Vert Petit de Paris have been developed for its specific use. Pickled in vinegar, it can be small, thin and crunchy with a pleasantly spicy flavour. It can also be preferred sweet or even sugary. The Gherkin is a vegetable that requires a fair amount of water and needs to be regularly watered.
