The Chilli Pepper is distinguishable from the bell pepper thanks to its spicy flavour. It is cultivated for its fruit and is used to spice up dishes. Chilli pepper seeds are sown in warm conditions at the same time as bell peppers or eggplants. Then the young plants are grown in the sun in pots or in open ground. The Chilli Pepper is naturally rich in vitamin C if consumed fresh and in pro-vitamin A. It is an excellent antioxidant. The spiciness of the chilli pepper comes from a very powerful alkaloid: capsaicin. The Habanero Chilli Pepper, for example, is a variety classified among the top 10 hottest peppers in the world.
