Karvinsky's fleabane is the species Erigeron karvinskianus well known in borders and as groundcover, which has also given rise to a few selections, interesting for their more colourful flowering. These small perennials bear a multitude of daisy flowers, white, pinkish or lavender depending on the variety. They form beautiful flowering cushions in rockeries, wall joints, along path edges and on dry embankments.
The type species, Erigeron karvinskianus, is the most widespread: its flowers are white with a pinkish reverse around a small yellow heart. The form ‘Lavender Lady’ is distinguished by more lavender flowers, in mauve and pinkish tones, working well near grey foliage, thyme or small rock garden campanulas. Offered as seeds, the variety ‘Profusion’ allows you to plant this fleabane over a large area, in light, limestone or stony soil, even dry. Like the other varieties of Erigeron karvinskianus, it self-seeds easily in this type of ground.
Karvinsky's fleabanes associate well with rock garden plants, creeping sedums and small sun-loving groundcover perennials. In a stone staircase, at the edge of a terrace or between two paving slabs, they add a touch of charm to stony scenes that are difficult to plant.
