Our range of Pieris for pots, dwarf pieris suitable for container growing and small spaces. Like Pieris japonica 'Little Heath', these compact evergreen bushes called Japanese Andromedas are appreciated for their changing leaf colour and spring flowering in clusters of bell-shaped flowers. Pieris 'Passion' (approximately 80 cm) catches the eye with its intense red young leaves and creamy white flowers. The 'Prelude' cultivar is smaller (50 cm), with a charming early flowering of white bells and a compact habit. Also to be admired is Pieris japonica 'Debutante', 70 cm tall, with a particularly dense and rounded habit, covered in clusters of pure white flowers in spring.
Pieris prefer acidic, damp, humus-bearing and well-drained soil. They develop best in partial shade, sheltered from drying winds. Mulching with pine bark helps conserve soil moisture, especially in summer.
