Tradescantia include the famous "misères", but also more than fifty perennial species belonging to the Commelinaceae family. Originating from the Americas, most of them are deciduous plants, but a few have evergreen foliage. The species that will thrive in the garden are resilient perennial plants, mostly hybrids like Tradescantia x andersoniana (or virginiana), featuring three-petalled blue flowers like 'Blue Stone', pink, white, violet, or red flowers like those of the 'Valour' selection. The flowers only last for a day, but they continuously renew from June to September in these faithful plants. Invite them in your ordinary, fresh but well-drained soil, in full sun or partial shade.

You'll adore them!
