Our collection of Purslane seeds to create a drought-resistant flowering carpet. The annual purslane mix, Portulaca grandiflora 'Single Mix', produces groundcover plants with variously coloured flowers, ideal for filling borders, rock gardens, or sunny planters. They stand out for their uninterrupted summer flowering and their great tolerance to drought. The most cultivated variety is Portulaca grandiflora 'Sundial Mix', which produces double flowers with vibrant colours ranging from yellow to red through pink. 'Single Ruby' is a magenta pink colour, almost raspberry, while the Double-flowered Purslane mix forms a low carpet with well-filled, multicoloured flowers. These varieties do not exceed 15 to 20 cm in height and spread easily into dense cushions.
Sow large-flowered purslane from March to May under cover, or directly in the ground from May. The seeds are very fine: sow them on the surface of a light substrate, without covering them. Purslanes thrive in poor, sandy, very well-drained soil, in full sun. They do not like excess moisture. Once established, they require little maintenance and flower until the first frosts.
