Artemisia

Essential plants for sunny flower beds, artemisias owe their reputation as ornamental plants not to their flowers but to their foliage. Because apart from a few floriferous species, it is the leaves that give artemisias their appeal. They come in a multitude of shades of grey: mouse grey, silver grey, pearl grey and even anthracite grey, and are often covered with a fine down that is pleasant to the touch. In the garden, the grey of their leaves pairs well with both pink or blue flowers and dark or golden foliage. Whether shrubby or creeping, they thrive in almost all poor and well-drained soils.
