Brussels Sprouts – Brassica oleracea gemmifera – from the Brassicaceae family is an herbaceous culinary vegetable plant cultivated for its axillary buds also called 'sprouts'. Its seeds are sown in spring for harvesting from autumn until early winter. This type of cabbage offers excellent yields in minimal space as it grows vertically. It has a milder and sweeter flavour than other cabbages and pairs well with chestnuts. Hardy like the Veraline Brussels Sprout, it is less demanding than other cabbage varieties and thrives in moderately fertile soil.
