The double-flowered clematis are fascinating and extraordinarily beautiful. These climbing, voluble plants, sometimes considered sophisticated, are no more difficult to grow than the single-flowered clematis, as demonstrated by the wonderful 'Vyvyan Pennell', the most vigorous of the double-flowered clematis. Early or late, evergreen or not, of the patens or montana type, with long summer flowering like the viticella clematis, or spring and perpetual, the double-flowered clematis is multicoloured and comes in multiple forms. There are varieties for all tastes and situations.
