Wisterias - or glycines in their Latin name - are well known for the strength of their trunks and their clusters of flowers, which are usually blue, white or pink, and fragrant. They are easy to grow, even in poor soil - just avoid a limestone soil. They are at their most beautiful when trained along a porch or a veranda. The main varieties are Japanese wisterias (or floribunda) and Chinese wisterias (sinensis), which have a perpetual flowering.

You'll adore them!
