Appreciated for their opulent flowering, their elegant evergreen and glossy leaves, classic camellias come in a multitude of varieties. They bloom at the end of winter and last until spring. Most have a dense and compact habit, allowing them to fit into small gardens and terraces, while "countryside" varieties have a looser habit, making them perfect for creating beautiful hedges. They prefer shade or partial shade and the ambiance of the undergrowth. They enjoy warmth but like cool soils and humid atmospheres. They grow in rich, humus-bearing, acidic and loose soils. Most are hardy up to -12°C (10.4°F), they fear cold and drying winds, but when planted in a sheltered position, in a grove, under large trees or against a wall, their resistance will be even better.
You'll adore them!
