Originally from the arid prairies of the United States, gauras are among the most flowering perennials. They form graceful bushes of flowers, white or pink depending on the varieties, from the beginning of summer. The flowering continues until autumn and can even extend into early winter in temperate regions. Gauras love full sun, poor and well-drained soils. Note that white-flowered varieties easily self-sow in gravelly soils. Easy to grow, gauras are often used in gardens with a wild look and form a winning trio with pennisetums and hybrid penstemons.
