Golden-leaved sedums or stonecrops are small perennials with fleshy leaves in shades of bright yellow, greenish yellow or chartreuse. Creeping and evergreen or semi-evergreen, they form luminous carpets in rockeries, on walls or in containers. Grow them in full sun, in poor, stony, well-drained soil.

Sedum reflexum 'Angelina' bears fine chartreuse leaves that take on bronze and orange tones in cold weather. Lower-growing, 'Angelina's Teacup' forms a very low carpet, golden yellow in season, then orange in winter. Sedum makinoi 'Ogon' stands out with its small, round, glossy leaves, golden in the sun and greener in partial shade. 'Yellow Cushion' forms a dense cushion of bright yellow leaves that turn red towards the end of summer. All flower in yellow, generally between June and August.

Golden-leaved sedums combine well with houseleeks, whose succulent rosettes offer a great diversity of shapes and colours. Hardy Delosperma provide brighter and longer-lasting flowering in rockeries, on walls and on dry banks.
In "Sedum: 7 groundcover species and varieties ", you will discover other creeping stonecrops suited to poor, stony soils.
