The seeds of Sunflower are sown in a line, using a cord, or in packs of 3 seeds, directly in place, in April, at a depth of 3cm (1in). Prepare the soil well with a deep cultivation of 20cm (8in). After sowing, tamp down well and water with a fine rain. Keep only one plant every 30/40cm (12/16in). Annuals, Sunflowers have earned their name Helianthus because of the shape and colour of their large single or double flowers. The leaves are covered with fine hairs and the flowers heads are very rich in nectar, areĀ  borne singly or in clusters. They bloom from July to October and offer a multitude of colours. They appreciate a rich, dry, deep and chalky soil, in full sun. Use the tall varieties at the back of the flowerbed, combining them with blue sages and Rudbeckias.

You'll love them!
