Marigolds or Tagetes are small annual plants of the Asteraceae family. Marigolds are easy to grow and are good allies in the vegetable garden. The multiple single or double flowers are yellow, orange, or brown in colour. The leaves are finely divided. In the vegetable garden, the flowers attract butterflies and repel aphids, while the roots inhibit the spread of nematodes. Plant marigolds in the sun, in flower beds or in pots, even in poor and dry soil. Avoid excessive watering.
