Basil – from the species Ocimum and family Lamiaceae - is an annual herbaceous plant cultivated in the herb garden for its leaves. Just one of them in a dish, and it's a ray of sunshine before summer. A Basil plant on the kitchen windowsill is already an ode to Mediterranean cuisine or, depending on the variety, to Asian cuisine: Thai, Vietnamese, etc. They all regularly call upon it. Fresh or dried, the leaves are used as seasoning in salads, marinades, or as a main ingredient in pesto. Basil is reputed to aid digestion and have hypoglycemic properties.

You'll love them!
