The crassulae are succulent plants that give their name to the Crassulaceae family. Originating mostly from South Africa, these amazing species are extremely drought-resistant, as they store water reserves in their stems and leaves. Some are very low-growing and carpet-like, while others take on the appearance of a small bush after several years, like Crassula ovata 'Hobbit', the jade tree that is often seen used as a conservatory plant. Provide them with a very well-drained, sandy or rocky substrate, but not too poor for faster development.

Their exotic appearance will be happily used in a mild climate garden, but also in pots, which they tolerate very well. Most of them are actually quite sensitive to cold, so it is best to provide them with shelter in a conservatory or cold greenhouse!

You'll adore them!
