Eupatoriums are very resistant perennials (-20°C (-4°F)) and they are honey-producing and easy to grow. Their umbels of small pink or white flowers bloom from August to October. With a bushy shape, they have deciduous green foliage, except for the late variety, Eupatorium rugosum chocolate. This latter has brown/chocolate foliage from July to September, which turns green in October during its flowering. They like all types of well-drained and moist soil. Called Sainte Cunégonde herbs or Water Hemp, they are classified as medicinal plants for their healing properties.
