The genus Taxus, including the famous Common Yew (Taxus baccata), is a group of conifers in the family Taxaceae, which includes about ten species commonly called yews. It is one of the best evergreen bushes for creating architectural hedges and stunning topiaries. The yew has numerous advantages including being hardy and adaptable to different soils and climates, and tolerating pruning well. Its slow growth, slightly faster in its hybrid Taxus (x) media, may be seen as a drawback, but it only requires pruning twice a year, sparing you from the recurring and tedious task. Whether used as a background for a free or wild composition, to structure the space rigorously, or as a point of focus along a path, this conifer, a true force of nature, is impressive and elegant. It fits in in all gardens and adapts to all styles: strict or poetic. Discover our selection of yews.
