The Cabbage - Brassica oleracea - refers to very a diverse range of plants. These include Cabbage heads (Cabus or Milan), Kohlrabi, Cauliflowers or the Chinese Cabbages.  They have nothing formally in common except for belonging to the same species. Brussels Sprouts aside, these are generally quite imposing vegetables whose leaves, flowers (broccoli, romanesco cabbage) or stems are consumed.  Cabbages can be sown and harvested throughout the year, depending on the varieties, and they are rich in vitamins C, B6, and B9. They also contain good levels of fibre and minerals such as calcium.
