Molinia is a magnificent deciduous grass. Its foliage is of a beautiful tender green. In the middle of summer, it forms fine inflorescences consisting of small flower spikes, giving an impression of mist. The inflorescences take on beautiful orange, golden, or brown colours in autumn, depending on the varieties. Molinia has a compact, tufted stump. It likes sun or partial shade and thrives in any heavy and moist to wet soil.
