Comfortable in dry shade as well as in the sun, Japanese anemones are essential perennials in late summer and autumn beds. They spread and produce suckers in light soils, forming beautiful colonies in the back of beds. They come in various colours: with white flowers like 'Honorine Jobert' or in a multitude of shades of pink like anemone hupehensis 'September Charm'. They are often single flowers, but some varieties offer generous double flowers. They do not require much intervention, and they easily grow in all types of soils as long as they remain moist during the flowering period.
