The Aethionema is a small perennial plant or undershrub of the cruciferous family with beautiful blue-green foliage. This flowering cushion is ideal in rockeries and alpine pots due to its long and abundant flowering in pink tones in late spring. While the Armenian aethionema is the most well-known species among gardeners, covered in intense pink in the Aethionema armenum Warley Rose or purple in the Warley Ruber variety, this genus, rich in fifty species, offers other gems for dry or alpine gardens. Native to mountainous areas of the Mediterranean basin and the Caucasus, Aethionema loves the sun, has very low water requirements, and thrives in limestone and rocky soils. A boon to brighten up cracks between rocks, rocky slopes, embankments, or walls!
