A unique grass, Chasmanthium is cultivated primarily for its arched inflorescences carrying flat brown spikes made up of "stacked" spikelets of flowers forming chevrons. A deciduous plant of medium size, Chasmanthium is a perennial grass and quite hardy, which enjoys sun or partial shade and moist, light soils.
