Discover our California poppy seeds, Eschscholzia californica: we offer a beautiful selection of varieties in a mix of colours, but also in monochrome selections, with single or even double flowers, from the simplest to the most unique. Their sowing is almost impossible to fail, like that of cosmos. You can sow in several ways: directly in place in autumn in mild climates for early spring flowering or after the last frost. You can also sow them earlier in the season, in a tray or even in pots indoors, with the young plants being transplanted into the ground after the last frost, with a spacing of 30 cm (12in) between each plant. Equally at home in cottage gardens as well as in sophisticated flower beds, this opportunistic plant thrives in poor and dry soils. Moderately hardy, the California poppy self-seeds spontaneously and generously in light soils. You can sow it in perennial beds, natural areas of the garden, or even in pots. These are perfect plants for low-maintenance gardens or weekend gardens. Their warm or tender colours blend beautifully with white, light blues (Baptisia, Linum perenne, Myosotis, Catananche caerulea), and mauves (Bowles Mauve wallflower, Buenos Aires verbena).
