The Centranthus, commonly known as Valerian, are excellent floriferous perennials and they are not very demanding regarding the nature of the soil, as long as it is well-drained. They have a bushy and ramified shape and bloom abundantly from mid-spring to the end of summer, provided that the faded flowers are often cut back. These plants are easy to grow and Centranthus thrive in the sun and can be grown in any type of soil, poor, light, or even limestone.
