Blue Agapanthus don't have evocative names like Blue Tuberose or Blue Nile Lily by chance: in the gardener's imagination, the agapanthus is blue - even if it is sometimes white. With magnificent umbels of flowers in almost all shades of blue, from nearly black to silvery blue-grey, and including ultramarine and azure blue, agapanthus are among the most beautiful perennials of the summer. Their superb flower spikes, ranging in height from 40 cm (16in) to over 1 m (3ft) tall, dominate a clump of luxuriant foliage that can be either deciduous or evergreen depending on the variety. Agapanthus are plants of South African origin, craving sun and warmth, and therefore more or less hardy. They are preferably grown in the ground, or in pots, depending on the region. Over time agapanthus clumps will become more and more generous, and their presence in the garden or on the terrace is comparable to that of a beautiful bush. We offer the widest choice of blue-flowered agapanthus.
