Our range of Black Elders, (Sambucus nigra), a versatile and decorative bush, appreciated for its elegant leaf, nectar-rich umbel flowers in spring and its black berries, which are edible when cooked. 'Pendula' is its weeping form, very rare in cultivation, sought after for its highly original silhouette, unique among elders. The Black Elder 'Black Lace' stands out with its deeply cut, almost black, purple leaves, beautifully contrasting with its pink flowers.  'Thundercloud' features very dark leaves and abundant berries, a treat for garden wildlife. Also discover the 'Cherry Lace' variety with finely cut, bright red-purple leaves, which evolve throughout the season. Its pink umbel flowers contrast nicely with the leaf, offering a unique decorative touch to the garden.

Black elders are very resistant to cold, adapt to most soils and require little maintenance. To learn more, also check out our complete guide "Elder: planting, growing, pruning"
