Good seed germination, resilient young plant (I forgot my buckets, didn't water them enough... and it's still sprouting!) The foliage is highly aromatic, not the best smelling plant for infusions that I know of, but I haven't tested it for infusion.

Description

The Garden Tea or Dragon's Head (Dracocephalum moldavicum) is an annual herbaceous plant also known as Moldavian Balm. Ornamental and aromatic, this Lamiaceae is cultivated for both its beautiful blue flowering in summer and its foliage.

Its flavour, aniseed for some, lemony for others, perfumes meats and fishes. But its foliage can also be consumed as a herbal tea for its antioxidant effects and its digestive, antiseptic, and immunostimulant properties. Finally, it is a plant that bees and butterflies will enjoy.

The Moldavian balm thrives in rather moist and rich soil. It can be cultivated in full sun as well as in partial shade. It is a hardy plant, at least up to -5°C (23°F).

Harvest: The leaves are harvested from April to October by cutting the branches.

Preservation: Dry the branches in the shade and store them in a dry place.

Gardener's tip: Regular weeding and hoeing are recommended.
