Thanks to Suzie for order preparation and quality control, and Hélène from the shipping department, the 5 bulbs I received appear to be healthy. Planted along the edge of a pathway near roses (Jules Verne, Charlène de Monaco, Cyrus, Cream Babylon Eyes, Etna, Teasing Georgia, and many others...), I am now waiting for spring growth... (or not?)." Analysis: - "reprise printanière" can be translated as "spring growth" or "spring revival" depending on the context. - "ou pas ?" is an idiomatic expression that can be translated as "or not?" in this context. - "Mis en terre" can be translated as "planted" or "put in the ground". - "bordure d'allée" can be translated as "edge of a pathway" or "pathway border". - "proche de" can be translated as "near" or "close to". - "bien d'autres" can be translated as "many others" or "numerous others".

Description

The Sky Jacket Hyacinth is a perennial herbaceous plant with an erect tuft, with single flowers of light lavender blue colour, fragrant.

This hyacinth will flourish both in pots and in borders during the months of March / April.

The leaves of this Hyacinthus Orientalis are, on the other hand, deciduous and measure from 15 to 35 cm (6 to 14in) long. Green in color, they are ensate in shape (flat, narrow, long, erect, and pointed). Native to Turkey, Syria, and Lebanon, it is a hyacinth with very good hardiness and can reach a height of 20 to 25 cm (8 to 10in).

Our advice: mix your hyacinths with other early bulbs such as chionodoxas or early Tulipa humilis.

Planting and care

Plant in October-November by burying the bulbs 8 to 10 cm (3 to 4in) deep and 15 to 20 cm (6 to 8in) apart. In very harsh climates, cover with litter to protect from extreme cold. Flowering occurs in April-May. After flowering, wait for the leaves to turn yellow and wilt before digging up the bulbs, which will be stored in a dry place until being replanted in the following autumn. The second year's flowering will generally be less beautiful than the first, but still very acceptable for bed decoration. Pot cultivation is possible. Hyacinth Tip: Among early bloomers, hyacinths are one of the few bulbs with large flowers. Reserve a special place for them in your garden. They will bring spectacular splashes of colour to your beds. Our advice: mix your hyacinths with other early bulbs such as chionodoxas or early-flowering Tulips humilis.
