Description

We offer you a dynamic duo of petunias with vibrant flowering, whose simple flowers have a contrasting star pattern. Those of Pink Star are star-shaped in white on a pink-violet background, those of Raspberry Star are star-shaped in white on a pink-violet background. The plants, vigorous and compact, flower continuously until October. Plant them in flower beds, planters, and hanging baskets, in sunny, fertile, light, and moist soil.

This collection consists of:

3 Supertunia Pink Star petunias

2 Raspberry Star petunias

Hybrid petunias all come from several plants native to the warm regions of South America. Petunias 'Blueberry Star' and 'Raspberry Star' belong to the solanaceae family, they are close to ornamental tobacco, for example, and their foliage also contains alkaloids. 'Blueberry Star' quickly forms a round and dense clump of 30 to 40 cm (12 to 16in) in height and 30 to 50 cm (12 to 20in) in diameter, with a very solid appearance. 'Raspberry Star' is more compact, it forms a round and dense clump of 25 to 35 cm (10 to 14in) in height and 35 to 45 cm (14 to 18in) in diameter. The plants flower  from May to October, provided they are well watered and regularly supplied with fertilizer. In these two petunias, the cup-shaped flowers are small in size, but very brightly colored, tightly packed together on dense foliage. The foliage, quite pubescent, has entire edges and a dark green color, it is vigorous and healthy.

Plant these petunias in large pots or in hanging baskets, they will create a perfect contrast with the black-flowered petunia. You can also plant them in a border, to punctuate gray foliage plants such as cerastiums, cineraria maritima, or artemisias. If you want to stand out, plant multiple plants to form an original ground cover at the base of gray foliage plants like nepeta faasseni or annual poppies in pastel colors.

Green plants measuring 4 to 8cm (2 to 3in) in cases of 5 small plugs measuring 2.8 cm (1in) in diameter and 4 cm (2in) in height. Our plants are at least eight weeks old and are strong enough to be planted outdoors.

Individually labeled

Note: Attention, our young plug plants are professional products reserved for experienced gardeners: upon receipt, transplant and store them in sheltered areas (veranda, greenhouse, cold frame) at a temperature above 14°C (57.2°F) for a few weeks before being planted outdoors once the risk of frost has definitively passed.

Planting and care

You can plant your petunias in the ground or in a pot. If you want to plant them in the ground, wait until the last heavy frosts have passed, they will tolerate a small late frost. In the meantime, you can pre-cultivate them in a pot in a warm and bright place to accelerate their growth. Petunias will flower from June to October. Plant them in a sunny or semi-shaded position sheltered from the wind. They need a light and humus-bearing soil, but above all draining. Do not water them too much at the beginning of the growing season as they are sensitive to excess moisture. They tolerate drought well, but will need regular watering during hot summer temperatures. Very floriferous and with rapid growth, they are hungry. We recommend feeding them with liquid fertilizer once or twice a week during the growing season. Remove faded flowers and dry leaves as they appear to keep them looking attractive and extend the flowering period.
