The Cosmos are flexible, elegant plants, very trendy with generous and decorative flowering throughout the summer. These popular plants have an upright habit with light green foliage that is finely cut and 30 cm (12in) long. The large flower heads are abundant from June to September. Cosmos prefer light, dry, poor soil in sunny and warm locations. There are 25 species that can be grouped into two main varieties: Cosmos bipinnatus (white, yellow, or red flowers) and Cosmos sulphureus (flowers ranging from yellow to orange). Tip: With no maintenance required, fill the gaps between the bushes or perennials with cosmos for a spectacular effect!
