Description
Hebe 'Turkish Delight' (also known as 'Turkish Delight' Shrubby Veronica) is a small bush with a rounded habit that will decorate your borders, pots, and rockeries all year round thanks to its shiny bronze-brown foliage, which turns intense purple once cold weather arrives.
'Turkish Delight' Hebe is a charming evergreen bush with a rounded and dense habit. It reaches 90cm (3ft) in height and spread at maturity. It has beautiful shiny bronze-brown foliage during the summer, which can add definition to garden pathways. As cold weather arrives, its leaves will turn an intense purple colour, almost black. Its leaves are oval in shape, slender, and end in a point. They are arranged on an axis, in opposition to each other. It flowers modestly, displaying small spikes of blue-mauve flowers from June to September.
Originally from New Zealand, the 'Turkish Delight' Hebe will enhance and bring life to your borders or mixed borders in the off-season.
With a reputation for being disease-resistant, the 'Turkish Delight' Hebe is hardy down to -7°C (19.4 °F). It is sensitive to extreme cold and prefers a sunny exposure, but tolerates partial shade. It appreciates well-drained, humus-rich, light, and moist soil.

Planting and care
In gardens with a wet climate, Hebe 'Turkish Delight' should be reserved for rockeries or sloping banks. It enjoys a rich soil that is always well-drained. In the colder regions of Northern Europe it is necessary to protect these shrubs during winter or cultivate them in pots, bringing them indoors during periods of freezing weather. One should avoid pruning this Shrubby Veronica, however it is advisable to clean the Hebe of faded blooms once flowering is over. Remove any dead branches to preserve its compact habit.

Hardiness is the lowest winter temperature a plant can endure without suffering serious damage or even dying. However, hardiness is affected by location (a sheltered area, such as a patio), protection (winter cover) and soil type (hardiness is improved by well-drained soil).
In temperate climates, pruning of spring-flowering shrubs (forsythia, spireas, etc.) should be done just after flowering.
Pruning of summer-flowering shrubs (Indian Lilac, Perovskia, etc.) can be done in winter or spring.

- In the inland hills and plateaus (Wicklow Mountains, Macgillycuddy’s Reeks, Connemara, Killarney), it is best to plant in spring (April–May) or autumn (September–October), avoiding periods of waterlogged soil in winter and strong winds, which pose the main risk to newly planted trees in these areas.
