Description

The Mustard 'Rouge de Rode Amsoïm' is a variety originating from China. Its leaves are wide and red. Its pungent taste disappears when cooked. It can be consumed raw, sliced in salads and raw vegetables, or cooked like spinach. Sow in August and September for a harvest from October to December.

Mustard has been cultivated for a long time in China, Japan, and India. Its foliage is used in the composition of various dishes; it can also be cooked like spinach, with butter or cream, or eaten raw in salads to add a spicy flavor.

Chinese mustard will require a supply of well-decomposed compost (3 kg/m²).

Harvest: Harvest Chinese mustard, leaf by leaf, as needed.

Storage: Mustard leaves should be consumed as soon as possible.

Gardener's tip: Carry out regular weeding and hoeing. A protective insect-proof cover can be installed against flea beetles.

Organic or "AB" seeds come from plants grown in organic farming (without the use of chemical products). They undergo no treatment after harvest. These seeds are suitable for organic market gardening.

From August to September.

Seeds should be sown thinly in loosened soil, with rows spaced 40 cm (16in) apart. Cover the seeds with half a centimetre of compost or fine soil. Gently firm down with the back of a rake and water with a fine spray. Keep the soil moist until germination, which usually takes 8 days.

Maintenance

When the young plants have 4 to 5 leaves, thin them out, leaving one plant every 25 cm (10in). Regularly weed and water.
