Description

The Geranium wallichianum Silvia's surprise is a low perennial that blooms from July to October, producing abundant pink flowers with white hearts. They take on a bluish hue in early cold weather. Its flowers are composed of 5 petals and measure 3 to 4 cm (1 to 2in) in diameter. They attract butterflies.

The green foliage of this perennial geranium is evergreen. The leaves, 5 to 15 cm (2 to 6in) long, are grouped in pairs on long creeping stems. The foliage and bark are fragrant.

Originally from Afghanistan and India, it is a very hardy and robust plant. It can reach a height of 40 cm (16in) at maturity. Thanks to its spreading habit, it is an ideal ground cover. This wallichianum geranium can be found in flower beds, borders, at the front of mixed borders, as well as in limestone rockeries. Additionally, it can be grown in containers and hanging baskets. Géranium Silvia's surprise pairs well with Campanula persicifolia, Heuchera, and Gypsophila repens.
