Green Generation, Retro Garden or Augmented Garden, we reveal the five emerging currents that reinvent gardening practices and the imaginations of the garden. Drawing on its industry watch, Promesse de fleurs shares its forward-looking analysis and field observations of tomorrow's garden.

Green generation

Millennials: a new plant tribe born on Instagram! They are between 28 and 44, often live in cities, and have turned indoor plants into a way of life. Indoor plants have become a lifestyle. Ficus lyrata, Calathea, Alocasia, Colocasia, or Monstera, indoor plants morph into icons, iconic and organic design pieces. The plant life becomes here emotional, identity-driven and graphic. This green frenzy is ultra-connected, Instagrammable, viral but deeply affectionate.
We talk of "Plant Parenting": 33% of Millennials talk to their plants, 19% give them a name, 29% consider them as sentient beings.
We collect spectacular foliage (Monstera 'Thai Constellation', Caladium, Begonias 'Rex'), we stage our interiors, and share our urban jungle on TikTok (#planttok) or Instagram (#urbanjungle, 8M posts).

Jardin Nostalgique

The enthusiasm for seed drives a revival of flowers for bouquets, directly from garden to vase! Statice, Everlastings, Oxeye daisies, Stocks, Phlox, are already part of our collection of more than 1,500 varieties of flower seeds.

Évasions Nomades

The garden becomes itinerant, blended, adaptive, a mirror of a world in motion. 42% of recent landscaping projects draw directly from distant cultures. They combine dream of far-off places with climate-consciousness, are nomadic in their evocations, resilient in their choices and economical in their water use. Sales of hardy succulents have risen by 45% across Europe since 2023, a sign that these plants from elsewhere resonate with local concerns. Among the identified trends:

  • Balinese Garden : tropical luxuriance, and sacred lotus s inspired by the tropical sanctuaries of Southeast Asia.
  • Antipodes Garden : euphorbias, crassulas, aloes or senecios pushed to the extremes evoke landscapes of southern Africa.
  • Chaparral Garden: Dasylirion longissimum, Echinocactus grusonii, Blue Mexico palm, Opuntia cacanapa 'Ellisiana'... The essences from semi-desert zones of California or Mexico sketch a graphic, sun-kissed and radically frugal garden.
  • Sandy Garden: on 20 cm of pure sand, Gypsophila 'Rosea', Blue Fescue, Lomandra 'White Sands', Silver Santolina or Sage 'Caradonna' create free-standing scenes with no irrigation or fertilisers. Inspired by Peter Korn and climate-resilient gardens, this new-generation dry garden combines lightness, robustness and modernity.

Jardin Refuge

In the face of hyperconnectivity, the garden becomes an emotional refuge, an open-air cocoon where we slow down, wrap up and breathe. Throws, cushions, natural textures, deep seating… Domestic comfort is transposed into a calming botanical setting.

Jardin Augmenté

The garden enters the era of assisted gardening: tutorials, apps, connected devices, AI…
Wireless tools are becoming widespread, mini-greenhouses are installed in cities, and social networks popularise the practices.
Unfussy, autonomous, the garden appeals to a new urban generation. Forty per cent of urban households already have a smart device.

Couleurs 2026

Emotional hues, between mineral freshness, moody romance and pastel dream.

  • Transformative Teal : between muted blue and aquatic green, this chic, mineral shade asserts itself as the colour of 2026. It evokes deep waters and is embodied in Eucalyptus 'Baby Blue', Agave americana, Senecio serpens 'Dwarf Blue', or Dasylirion glaucophyllum.
  • Cloud Dancer : a wispy, calming white, almost silent, Pantone's colour of the year. Chromatic antidotes to saturation, Agapanthus 'Ever White', Hydrangea 'FlowerWOW', Iris 'Glacier' and Clematis 'Guernsey Flute' soothe the eye.
  • Dark Academia : dramatic romanticism with Victorian overtones. Purple blooms, garnets, misty mauves and vine-like foliage create a dark, sophisticated atmosphere. Dianthus 'Sooty', Rose 'Charles de Mills', Poppy 'Lauren’s Grape' and Lupin 'Masterpiece' embody this poetic mood.
  • Unicorn : a pearlescent pastel breeze, straddling the edge of a digital dream. Apricot sorbet, frosted lavender, sky blue or vanilla yellow compose an otherworldly, playfully offbeat garden populated with Lychnis 'Classic Apricot', Delphinium 'Misty Lavender', Rose ‘Koko Loko’.
