Our range of common junipers (Juniperus communis) in all their forms. Juniperus communis 'Hibernica' stands out for its narrow, columnar habit, perfect for structuring a flower bed or marking an entrance. Meanwhile, Juniperus communis 'Repanda', with its spreading and creeping habit, forms a dense evergreen ground cover. The 'Gold Cone', cultivar, on the other hand, forms a small cone that brightens the garden with its golden young shoots in spring. Also to be admired is Juniperus communis 'Horstmann', with its trailing habit. Its sculptural appearance makes it a sensation in landscaped gardens or as a centrepiece in a flower bed.

The common juniper is a hardy, low-maintenance conifer, prized for its evergreen foliage and highly variable habit. It bears sharp needles, often arranged in whorls of three, which release a resinous fragrance when crushed. This dioecious species produces spherical blue-black berries, called galbuli, on female plants, used in cooking and herbal medicine when ripe.

The common juniper thrives in well-drained and rather poor soil. Highly resistant to drought, it tolerates salt spray and cold winds.
