Originating from temperate Asia (Asia Minor, Iran, and Turkestan), Viridiflora tulips, are recognised for their petals marked with characteristic green striations, a heritage from their wild range. The growth of 'Blushing Artist' is rapid in spring; its robust stems emerge from March to reach their full size within weeks, and the plant produces few offsets, developing mainly through its bulbs and bulblets. The flowers of 7 to 10 cm in diameter bloom in May, revealing ivory petals accentuated with a pink blush and enhanced by broad green stripes; their structure is fluted and elegant. Their sturdiness enables them to last nearly three weeks. The deciduous foliage consists of lanceolate, soft green leaves edged with white, approximately 15–20 cm long and 5–7 cm wide, offering a visual appeal even after flowering.
