Planting and care

Cultivation is quite easy in a semi-shaded, moist, non-limestone soil, very rich in humus. The ideal substrate is a rocky subsoil, in a clayey topsoil, covered with a thick layer of leaf compost, in the company of hostas, epimediums, or under a Japanese maple, for example. The important thing is that the soil is always moist and well-drained. This plant goes into dormancy quite early, sometimes as early as August. There is no need to worry, it does so to protect itself from drought; you simply need to remember the exact location where it is planted in order to avoid accidentally digging up the dormant rhizomes.
