Description

Primula denticulata 'Rubin' is a perennial native to the forests and meadows of the Himalayas, Tibet, and Nepal. From March to May, a sturdy stem, which can reach a height of over 30cm (12in), forms ball-shaped flowers measuring 1 to 2cm (1in) in diameter, ruby red with a yellow eye.

This perennial, with its rosette habit, has deciduous leaves that are 15 to 25cm (6 to 10in) long, elongated, and dentate. These leaves are green with a white underside.

The Primula Denticulata or Drumstick Primula reaches a height of 40cm (16in) at maturity. It is a plant with exuberant growth and excellent hardiness (down to -20°C (1°F)). This plant, which disappears in autumn, is suitable for moist rockeries, borders, flower beds, or even semi-natural environments. Additionally, they make great cut flowers with decorative interest. Be cautious of the presence of primine, which can cause allergic reactions.

This primrose pairs well with astilbes and hostas.
