Description

Carex trifida is an evergreen grass forming an attractive upright and flexible clump of narrow and shiny leaves, with a bluish-green colour. The flowers are arranged in large, dense, dark brown spikes, providing an attractive contrast with the foliage. We have planted it in an exotic garden among clumps of bamboo, accompanied by large leafed hostas. Hardy down to -10°C (14°F), Carex trifida likes sheltered and sunny positions, as long as it does not lack water.
