Tulipa Double Arosa - Late double tulip

Tulipa 'Double Arosa' is a late variety of tulip in pastel tones. Its flower, overall a bluish-pink, is warmed by pale yellow and green. The green flames on the outside of the petals remain visible when the corolla opens. Plant this tulip in groups in spring beds or in a large pot. It is also a very good flower for cut flower arrangements.

Tulipa 'Double Arosa' is a bulbous perennial plant from the Liliaceae family. This variety is classified among the double late tulips, a group that blooms at the end of the tulip season, recognisable by its wide, rounded, very double flowers. It was registered in 2013 by Goede Tulpen B.V., in Wervershoof, the Netherlands. The plant produces a robust flower stem in May, 35 to 45cm tall. The flower measures about 7cm long. The inside of the petals reveals a yellow base and a bluish-pink colour fading towards the margin. The fused stamens are light yellow; the pollen can be yellow, purple or almost black. On the outside, the petals have a dark green flame and darker stripes. Their margin changes from bluish-pink to lighter pink. Some outer petals have a scalloped tip. The flower stem is green, tinted with purple at its tip. The green, ovate and wavy foliage turns yellow after flowering, then dies back when the bulb enters dormancy during the summer.

In a pastel display, plant tulip 'Double Arosa' among the silvery-grey foliage of Cerastium, it mixes easily with the tulips ‘Angelique’ and 'Green Wave'. In a pot, it is sufficient on its own, as its voluminous flowers fill the space well. In a vase, you can pair it with peony ‘Sarah Bernhardt’ and Allium ‘Graceful’, white dotted with lilac pink.
