Asters are perennial flowers, from the Asteraceae family from which they get their name, and they come in a wide variety of species and colours: white, pink, blue, mauve, or violet. They are all very resistant and highly floriferous. These plants, whether in spring, summer, or autumn, thrive in sunny locations, in well-drained and light soils. Hybrids, such as Aster dumosus, novae-angliae, or novi-belgii, will benefit from being divided every 2-3 years to regenerate the stump and protect them from powdery mildew.
