Asters are perennial flowers from the Asteraceae family, from which they derive their name. They come in a wide variety of species and varieties with multiple colours: white, pink, blue, purple, or violet. They are all very robust and flower abundantly. These plants, whether blooming in spring, summer, or autumn, thrive in sunny locations with well-drained and light soil. Hybrids, such as Aster dumosus, novae-angliae, or novi-belgii, should be divided every 2-3 years to regenerate the stump and protect them from powdery mildew.
