A compact hydrangea distinguished by its changing flower colours in shades of peach, salmon pink, lime green and deep red. It forms a dense bush about 1m tall, with decorative dark green foliage. Description
Hydrangea macrophylla Rembrandt® Bella Pesche is a variety with charming ball-shaped flowers that change colour throughout the season. They start lime-green, turn salmon pink, then deepen to dark red at the end of summer. This compact and well branched hydrangea forms a bush with a regular, dense habit, well-suited to small gardens and patios. It gently brightens and colours semi-shaded spots. To enjoy it fully, give it moist, humus-rich soil and a position sheltered from scorching sun.
Hydrangea macrophylla Rembrandt® ‘Bella Pesche’ belongs to the Hydrangeaceae family. It is a cultivar with the code name ‘HORE1644’, PBR, originating from the Rembrandt® breeding programme of the Dutch nursery Lendert de Vos B.V., launched in the early 2020s. This Rembrandt® collection brings together compact hydrangeas with sturdy stems, capable of flowering from May–June to September–October, depending on the climate, whose very long-lasting inflorescences change colour every 3 to 4 weeks.
The Rembrandt® ‘Bella Pesche’ variety has a well-branched bushy habit, reaching 1m to 1.20m in height and width in the ground, while in a pot it does not exceed 1m all round. Its growth rate is steady but moderate. The foliage is deciduous in winter, composed of elliptical to ovate leaves 10–15 cm long and 7.5–10 cm wide, glossy dark green with a finely toothed margin. The globose inflorescences measure 15–20 cm in diameter and are made up of decorative sterile flowers, each 3–3.5 cm across. These florets emerge light green, then evolve to peach-salmon and a soft peach-pink, finally colouring intense red in autumn; each stage offers a different tone that lasts several weeks. However, in more acidic soil, the early shades (light lime-green or light salmon) may shift towards lavender or mauve tones. The flowers are very resilient, giving them excellent longevity. This is also a choice variety for cut flowers.
Note: The colour of Hydrangea macrophylla flowers varies with soil pH. Traditionally, blue varieties turn pink in neutral or alkaline soil. To preserve a beautiful blue colour, mix acidic soil or peat into your garden soil and apply aluminium sulphate (slate contains it) or alum powder each spring.

Planting and care
Plant Hydrangea macrophylla Rembrandt Bella Pesche in spring or early autumn, preferably in a slightly shaded spot, for example against an east-facing wall, or even a north-facing one. It tolerates morning sun well. Shelter it from cold, drying winds. It does not necessarily require acid soil, which is poor, but appreciates a deep, humus-rich, moist yet well-drained soil, ideally enriched with a good fertiliser before planting. If the soil is dry at the base of the wall, set the root ball at least 30 or 40 cm away and incorporate well-rotted compost to better retain moisture in the soil. It is very hardy and can be planted in cold regions.
