Thank you to the staff (for order preparation and shipping), the bare-root rose received looks healthy to me. Planted in the ground, I am now patiently waiting for it to take root... (or not?).

Description

The 'Rose der Hoffnung' or 'KORamflusa' Rose obtained by Kordes is a bushy rose with nostalgic charm. It develops large, very double, fleshy, round flowers in the form of bicoloured cups. The orange buds give rise to generous yellow flowers, distinctly edged with intense salmon to pink. Slightly fragrant, they continuously bloom from June to September on healthy foliage. The plant forms a medium-sized, upright bush suitable for borders and small flowering hedges.

The 'Rose der Hoffnung' or 'KORamflusa' Rose is a floriferous, robust, healthy rose suitable for all our regions. It is a modern landscape bush with large flowers introduced in 2011 by the German rosarian Kordes. A vigorous bush with a flexible and upright habit reaches a height of 70 cm (28in) with a spread of 40 to 50 cm (16 to 20in) at maturity. It develops strong, thorny branches that bear tough, dense foliage, divided into dentate leaflets with a glossy medium green colour. Throughout the summer, the plant continuously produces 9-10 cm (4in) diameter double flowers, reminiscent of some old roses. Initially globular, they open up like peonies. Their colour is a warm, soft yellow in the centre, fading towards the outer edges, tinged with contrasting shades of bright pink and salmon on the border. The roses are clustered in bouquets at the end of long shoots from the current year or emerge on 2-year-old stems. The foliage of this variety is deciduous, falling in autumn and reappearing in spring.

'Rose der Hoffnung', which means "rose of hope" in German, is a variety that only requires fertile soil and is not too dry in summer to reach its full potential. Despite its modest size and slight fragrance, a solid and lavish bush can be planted in borders or as a small flowering hedge. It blends well with perennials and light, not-too-tall annuals such as panicled baby's breath, Verbena bonariensis, catmints, aga staches, foxgloves, and annual poppies. Its roses are stunning in bouquets, combined with lilies in summer or asters in early autumn for a lighter composition.

Planting and care

Plant your 'Rose der Hoffnung' Rose in a sunny location or light shade (preferably morning sun in hot and dry areas). Modern roses are tolerant but do not appreciate excessive limestone or acidic or sandy soils. They will adapt to any garden if the soil is well-worked, not too heavy, and sufficiently rich. Regularly water and fertilise your rose to support its flowering. To plant your rose, work the soil by crumbling it and put an amendment, such as blood, fish and bone, at the bottom of the planting hole. Water generously after planting to remove air pockets. Water regularly for a few weeks to facilitate rooting. Avoid pruning too short during the first two years.

Roses may appear stained or unsightly at the end of summer. However, it is a natural phenomenon that doesn't harm their development.
