Description

Polemonium Sonia's Bluebell, or Greek Valerian, is a beautiful sturdy perennial with a bushy habit appreciated in spring for its pale mauve cut flowers.

Easy to grow, this hardy rhizomatous perennial, with a 50 cm (20 in) spread, develops deciduous, alternate, pinnate leaves, purple at first then dark green when mature. In May, pale mauve bell-shaped flowers grouped in clusters at the end of sturdy stems open throughout spring.

Polemonium Sonia's Bluebell thrives in sunny or semi-shaded locations with moist, well-drained soil. It self-seeds very well once established.

In the garden, plant it in a mixed border or a romantic-inspired bed alongside bellflowers, yarrows, roses, catmints, or speedwells.
