The poor delivery, young plants for the price. I had stopped shopping with you but I tried again, but this is the last time and I won't advertise for your company. It was very good before starting this other field of plants where I was not happy at all.

Description

The Heuchera 'Marmalade' is a vigorous hybrid, featuring truly unique foliage. Its undulate leaves display a palette of fantastic colours, ranging from golden bronze to orange and pink, with shades of café au lait. This perennial forms a thick cushion that constantly changes in hue. The delicate summer flowering, in the form of slender spikes adorned with pink-orange buds, adds to the charm of this delightful variety. Low-maintenance and robust, this heuchera is  ideal for edging pathways or borders, and can even be grown in decorative containers on terraces or balconies.

The Heuchera 'Marmalade' belongs to the saxifrage family. It is a hybrid of Heuchera micrantha, native to rocky slopes and cliffs in the western United States. It will reach a height of 30 cm (12in) and a width of 40 cm (16in), forming a large spreading clump. The foliage is the plant's main asset: a mix of rose, yellow-green, copper, and amber, evolving with the seasons and temperatures. In summer, the dominant colour is green-golden-bronze. The undersides of the leaves are dark pink-purple. The light and airy flowering begins in June and continues until August. These long spikes, dancing in the wind, give a blurry aspect to this romantic flowering, which is difficult to capture on canvas. This movement, shared with some saxifrages, has earned heucheras the nickname "painter's despair". This plant has a shallow root system.

Planted in shady and cool rocky ground or in a line to highlight a path, this heuchera will bring dynamism and colour to your garden. Combine it with hostas, small grasses (Stipa, Carex), and ferns for a wild effect. It also makes a good companion for bushes (Japanese maples) and roses. Pair it with the blue flowers of perennial geraniums, the only shade it truly lacks, as it will perfectly complement it. Consider using heucheras to fill your pots, containers, and flowerbeds, alongside geraniums, for example. The delicate bell-shaped flowers of this plant bring lightness to bouquets.

Planting and care

Easy to maintain, the 'Marmalade' heuchera thrives in all well-drained, moist soils, in partial shade, and it is imperative to avoid full sun. Its close relationship with H. villosa gives it good resistance to heat and cold. You should plant it in loose soil that is fairly rich in humus, possibly providing mulch. It likes well-draining soils and rocks in and above the soil. On the other hand, it cannot tolerate very hot conditions. For this reason, it is not grown in the Mediterranean. Sandy and poor soils should be avoided. Also, avoid planting it near overly vigorous perennials. Heucheras have rather shallow root systems and you should plant them slightly lower than the crown (origin point of the foliage). After a few years of growth or when dividing them, you should replant them a little deeper, taking care to remove the lignified parts.
