An intense blue that leans towards indigo! It's my favourite geranium. In autumn, it adorns itself with a splendid foliage!

Description

Geranium Johnson's Blue is a perennial plant resulting from the cross-breeding of the Himalayan Geranium and the Meadow Geranium. This exceptional groundcover blooms abundantly and for a long time.  Quickly becoming popular since its introduction in 1950, it blooms from May to July. Its large cup-shaped flowers are a light blue tinged with violet and a white centre. This geranium grows quite quickly, reaching a height of 40 cm (16in).

This sterile plant has impressive deciduous foliage which is its main asset. Its green colour turns towards orange and red in autumn. The leaves are deeply cut and lobed.

Also known as Cranesbill, Geranium Johnson's Blue can be used as a border plant but also at the base of modern roses, especially pastel-coloured roses. It is also suitable for natural gardens, understorey planting, rockeries, and coastal areas. It can be cultivated in pots on patios. This geranium is very hardy and tolerates summer heat quite well. It received an RHS Award of Garden Merit in 1993.
